Who Writes This Stuff
Rebecca Smith Hurd is an American writer, editor, foodie, and world traveler. She arrived in Puebla, Mexico, in August 2007 to study Spanish, fell in love with the place and its people, and decided to stay. Since then, she’s taken in as many sights, sounds, tastes, and cultural experiences as possible, from eating fried grasshoppers (seasoned with chile and lime) to being charged by a wooden bull (loaded with fireworks). In the process, Rebecca has become all about Puebla. She founded this website on May 5, 2010, to share her local insights and travel adventures. She continues to spend lots of time in the capital city and neighboring Cholula with her other half, who is, as people here like to say, más méxicano que el chile, or more Mexican than a chili pepper — in his case, a poblano one.
Vica Amuchastegui is a Mexican artist, architect, and teacher. Although she’s lived in Puebla for most of her life, Vica still enjoys “playing tourist” and sharing her experiences with others. She does so, in part, by photographing and writing about the area’s Colonial buildings, natural surroundings, and whatever else catches her eye. Vica is especially interested in public art, and she works closely with Puebla Ciudad Mural, a project designed to beautify the city’s diverse neighborhoods and markets. The former Nile Guide expert never tires of immersing herself in Puebla’s history and charm — and invites you to do the same.
