About
All About Puebla aims to be the English-language resource for tourist information about the Colonial city and its environs. Of course, we speak Spanish, too. But the point of this independent blog is to fill a void: It’s our opinion that many official sources of information (brochures, historical plaques, websites, etc.) about Puebla in English, when available, are poorly translated, scant on details, or woefully out of date. Finding useful facts about events, both current and historical, can be frustrating and time-consuming. Perhaps this explains why so few foreign tourists have discovered this culturally rich destination? All About Puebla is working to change that — and welcomes your comments, suggestions, and other feedback.
What Other People Say About Us
“Written by a former Wired editor living in Puebla, All About Puebla dubs itself ‘a gringa’s guide to the culinary capital and Colonial heart of Mexico.’ It is, by leaps and bounds, the best English-language resource on the city.” —New York Magazine, “Chow Down in Puebla”
“All About Puebla does an excellent job of covering one of the most delightful cities in Mexico. [It’s] THE English-language resource for tourist information about Puebla and its environs.” —About.com’s Mexico Travel Guide
“Rebecca has created a website called All About Puebla where she constantly shares with locals and visitors the culture, folklore, food, colors, history, architecture, and a lot more information related to our state with a nice touch: the contents are in English so they can be read in different countries by thousands of tourists who do not speak or understand Spanish.” —Yo Soy Puebla, “La Gringa Poblana”
“Thank you for your work, which is original and full of determination. Puebla lives because of the hard-working people like you who live here.” —Puebla Vive

In the interest of transparency, in November 2011 site founder Rebecca Smith Hurd accepted a job as an adviser to the state’s office of international affairs. Her role is to help promote regional events and to try to raise Puebla’s profile overseas. The position gives her greater access to information and sources, but state officials have absolutely no editorial control over the content of these pages. (She would quit before allowing that to happen, and they know it.)
